Description

This hydrangea was part of a bunch of flowers I bought at the market a couple weeks ago. I'm quite sure it's a hydrangea! :) And I'm pretty sure the little things off to the right are a couple different sorts of statice. ..... ..... ..... Yesterday I posted a flower without really paying much attention, and said it was foxglove (digitalis). It actually wasn't foxglove. The idea that it may have been Canturbury Bells (campanula) was tossed about, but I wasn't convinced that was right, either. Since the danged thing was from Ann's garden, I asked Ann. (Sometimes the simple answer is the best!) It's penstemon. There you go! :)

OO! I'm so glad you found out, after I'd posted my guess a friend of mine said she didn't think it was, it looked familiar but she couldn't remember either! two senior moments for one! This pic is beautiful, I love the muted shades.

I don't know why but I am thinking about Nuns, more to the point those hats whith the wings on, if you know what I mean. This just made me think about them.lol. Excellent capture Tara, so they are from the market, we can't grow them all year round but it doesn't stop us wanting to enjoy them. Winter and early Spring is the time when I buy most of the flowers for Pauline, the rest of the time she can enjoy whats in the ground. Personally I am not a lover of cut flowers, I would much rather enjoy them planted, they last longer. So glad you found out the name of the one from yesterday. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

It is a hydrangea - my mother used to call them "big heads". Did you know the colour of the flowers is dependent upon the alkalinity or acidity of the soil? Lovely photograph. Mike

Delicious side lighting, color blends, clarity, composition and textures displayed in this shot of the flowers from the market, be they hydrangea, penstemon, foxglove, venus flytrap, or some other esoteric plant.

This is a gorgeous photograph! I love the arrangement and the movement of color; there are such subtle details all over this image and multiple visits to this image will reveal them, always surprisingly and freshly! I love this image, especially with a full range of colors centered more toward the violet end of the spectrum. Fantastic work!
