Description

first and foremost i would like to express my most heartfelt gratitude to everyone for your sympathies and outreach during my time of dealing with the death of my father. your comments on my last post and all your comments on tims posts with regards to my dad. i shed many tears of sorrow but at the same time of amazement at how wonderful you folks really are. i know we dont really know eachother, yet we bond in our common affection of photography and we do bare our souls when we post pictures, it shows a piece of who we are to the world. in a sense we are a family. so again, thank you. this time of year at my other home (where i grew up), everything is dead and dismal,so in a way was appropriate for that journey. what a bittersweet journey it was. my mom turned 80 on the same day that we buried my dad. she has Alzheimer's and didnt really know it was her birthday or that we were saying goodbye to dad. she wanted to know when he was coming back from the store. shes not sure who i am, but whomever i am to her, i know that she trusts and loves me.i was able to get out a couple times to my old haunts and got a couple photos. maybe its the time of year or it was my frame of mind,or a combination of both but everywhere i went, all i saw was, death, old, and forgotten. my next couple post will reflect that, then im ready to move on. im glad to be back and ready to start living in the now!

So sorry to hear of your father's passing, but it sounds like you are dealing with it in the best way possible, going on with life. He would probably want that. And tough to hear about your mother too, both my grandparents had A and didn't know their children or where they were in the end... Lovely photo treatment here, it reminds me of my younger years in a colder climate.

Wonderful composition Lane, it has a dreamlike quality to it, maybe reflecting how you are feeling, I lost my dad when I was twelve and my mother died twenty four years ago. You never forget them, theres not a day that goes by that you don't think of them, and there's nothing anybody can do to make it better. In time the pain lessens, all I can say is dwell on the good times if you dwell at all. My heart goes out to you and your family, be happy, for your dad would wish it so. God bless you.

You are grieving. That is the longest and toughest part of a loss...the grieving. When you are done with it, you will know it and you will be stronger and sharper for it. This is definitely a shot that reflects your grief.

i am afraid my friend this feeling is part of the grief and in time you will look at things a little differently and a knowing that he will always be a part of who you are .i was there at both my parents passings and even though i did`nt realise at the time because of the heartbreak i eventually worked out that just as they brought me into this world i had the honour of seeing them leave on their journey .a tear in my eye is shed for your heartbreak .this image sums up your feelings well lane and take heart that the friendships you have here will somehow see you through mick

I look upon this landscape not as dead but waiting for spring and life to return to it. As spring will come to you with renewed memories, and the love that will always live in your heart for your parents. This image is a beautiful farewell to your father. Take care Lane..

First of all, this is a very nice and peaceful capture. Second, I am sorry for your loss. I lost my daughter (18) 11 years ago. So, I know how much this affects you. Just take it one day at a time. I hope things tend to get a little better for your mother too. Aloha

A very touching and heart wrenching image and narrative. It's a double blow to have to watch your mother drift slowly away by such a devastating disease that is always harder on the family, it seems, than the patient. I feel for you and wish you only the best as you work through your feelings. God Bless You and take care of yourself these next few weeks and months, Lane. I agree that the image really reflects the mood, as if seen through tears.
