Description

Thanks to our Puritanically-minded government, which wants to do us all good despite ourselves, you can no longer smoke in pubs, clubs and other buildings. Which is why these drinks are sitting here all by themselves while their owners are outside in the freezing cold having a quick cigarette. And some clubs and pubs have closed and others report falling membership. I don't smoke nowadays but I can't see why pubs and clubs shouldn't be allowed separate rooms for the smokers. Freedom of choice, you know. (Postwork in Photoshop)

Well said, my friend. I'd even tolerate the idea of separate smoking/non-smoking establishments more readily than the current conditions. Btw 2000 pubs have gone out of business since the ban, and a similar number have converted into restaurants ... aargh! I gave up smoking for a full year - kicked a 50-a-day Woodbine habit instantly with no 'aids' Just cold turkey. I started again during the last summer before the ban. Why? Because I was sick of having to listen to sanctimonious anti-smokers [NOT non-smokers] complaining constantly about smokers - who even then were allocated the worst of rooms/ seating areas anyway. The picture's great - love the inset square.

Love the banter & the image! Some work places don't allow smoking on their premises, and it may take longer to get off the premises that the time allowed for the break! I loved those day when I smoked in my office in a Government Building! I don't smoke if there is no one smoking now! ;)
