Ah, love, let us be true To one another! for the world, which seems To lie before us like a land of dreams, So various, so beautiful, so new, Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light, Nor certainty, nor peace, nor help for pain. Author: Matthew Arnold At a stop light with many cars ahead of me I saw a young man, ill kept, trembling, slowly meandering from car to car with his outstretched hand holding a white cup. People in their cars rolled up their windows or pretended not to see him. I caught his attention as he came closer and he came to my car window. I rolled it down and smiled at that painful face, putting a few dollars in his cup. With quivering lips he smiled back and then the light turned green. Such tender feelings and insight expressed in your writing..and a dreamy and beautiful image. Excellent work, Robert. ps.. I often wonder how many of us would recognize our Lord if we saw him downtown befriending the homeless. There is only One "true love," really.
