My wife bought me a camera when I promised to give up smoking! I havn't had a cigarette for 3 months now but I still miss them.BIOBirth = 1962
Status = married (I don't deserve her)
Job = teacher (mostly economics)
Residence = Switzerland (not one of the beautiful bits)
Hobbies = Books (she says we have no more space)
TV (she says I watch too much)
DVD (she says they are a mess)
Food (she says I must loose weight)
Photography (she says my pictures are no good) - sighs
SHE IS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME!

Superb lighting and really like how you captured the tree in the foreground. Wonderful shot!

Excellent use of the lines in the composition, good choice for B&W too in my opinion. At first I wasn't sure about the crop including the tree on the right but the more I look at it I find it pleasing, complementing the rest in age and stripped barrenness.

Superbe noir & blanc... une image particulièrement bien composée, contrastée et présentée ! Bravo, Charles !

I really like the choice of black and white. Beautiful scene and sense of depth. Nicely done

Rustic, and BW is a good choice for lending an aire of antiquity!!! David W

I would think one of the challenges of dark-hued photos is how to capture light...your castle (or church, I don't know the region) provides it in a flush-forward presence, lit from some far source and acting like a beacon in a foreboding landscape. (It's like the world before a storm.) The light is bold and lonely. And I understand the comment about the tree, but it actually gives the picture its foreground and gives us a strange & sinewy 'anchor' from which to view the whole. It's always nice to see a photographer do several shots with the same lighting (as you did), exploring the nuances of a way of seeing. Would be striking huge...
