Lots of lovely detail, Klaus. I like visiting old churches and graveyards. There are so many human stories there. Most old churches are the accumlation of generations of architectural and human additions. They are organic almost. With Eastertide upon us, and Passion Sunday today, it is nice to see an old church from your university city. Mine, in Glasgow, Scotland, is only about 45 years old, but the old St Mungo's Cathedral, commonly known as Glasgow Cathedral dates from about 1136. It is built on an older church ( underneath it and still in use! ) which dates from about 650. We have five buildings, claimed by their adherents, to be cathedrals ( Glasgow Cathedral (St. Mungo's) - Presbyterian; St. Andrew's - Roman Catholic; St. Mary's - Episcopalian; St. Luke's - Greek Orthodox; and Glasgow Evangelical Church - , near to Glasgow Cathedral. We also have a Museum of Religion there too. As well as all the other British churches, and many independent churches, we have St.Columba's Lutheran Church, Have a nice Easter, my friend. May you and your family experience Peace and Joy at this holy time, whatever religion you may be, or none. Warm regards, John.

Lovely! I like the old crypt or tomb covers mounted on the church wall. Among other things, this old church speaks of the persistence of a culture's memory, something we often lack here in the land of strip malls and new suburbs.
