Description

I'm so amazed. This morning I turn the tv on to catch the news and there's a reporter in Atlanta, talking about the tornado and winds that hit yesterday. He's walking along a sidewalk and the camera pivots to show a destroyed house behind him **how dramatic**. The guy says, "I'm standing in front of a house that was destroyed." **Really? We wouldn't have known this**. He then bends over and picks up a brick and states, "This is a brick from that house. There a lot of bricks scattered all around me." **No duh?**. He walks along, holding the brick,**isn't this looting?** explaining other things he has witnessed. A car windshield is broken **camera zooms in**. A piece of metal is in the road **camera zooms there**. So why am I amazed? The technology it took for him to beam his story up to a satellite, then that beamed to the New York studio, then that beams back to a satellite and back down to my cable company and across town to my tv. That's amazing. All this so some putz can show me a brick, LIVE, in Atlanta, Georgia, three thousand miles away. I wish, just one time, that a homeowner would go grab his brick back, clock the idiot reporter in the head with it and tell him he's trespassing. This wonderful world of the 21st Century is just so damned impressive I can barely stand it!

Well, your last sentence darn near sums it up for me too. And, I'll bet the idiot pitched a brick through the car's window instead of the winds.

Love your picture. As for the homeowner clocking the journalist, now that's something I'd love to see as well.

First, the image itself. Spectacular lighting, and very creative use of a cardboard box for a t.v. -^ Tell ya what, if I encountered a reporter on my street last year in the aftermath of the Groundhog Day tornadoes, he/she would have caught me cussing like a sailor -^ Sick to my stomach because at least 6 people died in my backyard. When looking at this image, Tool's Vicarious plays in my head -_^ Eye on the the TV 'Cause tragedy thrills me Whatever flavor it happens to be, like... "Killed by the husband" "Drowned by the ocean" "Shot by his own son" "She used a poison in his tea...kissed him goodbye" That's my kind of story It's no fun 'til someone dies

I like your image (as I do with all of them) and your commentary. On that note I want to add, I find it detestable when the various local governments and authorities use their power (ie, the guns of the police and national guard) in the aftermath of a natural disaster to keep people from returning to their homes and property in their efforts to salvage some portion of their belongings. Our individual rights and freedoms are increasingly being stripped away.
