Description

ok i`m back and fighting fit well maybe not fit :o).. went out late this afternoon ,no babysitting duties ,and took my self to darlington train station . a series of shots coming up over next few days .this is a mainline station running the east coast mainline between scotland and london .i think this a grand old station full of character and some fantastic building work .for anyone interested i have just about finished contructing this route to scale from kings cross to newcastle on my computer .all the scenery ,stations ,houses and tracks all layed be me .nearly a years work in completion and the route laid with train maps and ordinance survey maps . thanks for looking my friends ,i`m off to try and catch up with you all now :o) mick a little history for you`s Darlington railway station, formerly known as Darlington Bank Top, located on the East Coast Main Line is the main railway station for the town of Darlington, in the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. The town is also served by North Road railway station, the location of the first commercial steam railway: The Stockton and Darlington Railway. The station itself is a Victorian structure, and winner of the Large Station of the Year award in 2005.[1] Although not on the Durham Coast Line, Sunday services run to and from Hartlepool railway station. The station has a direct bus links to Richmond and Catterick Garrison, which is covered by National Rail ticketing, and the Sky Express bus service to Durham Tees Valley Airport, both operated by Arriva North East. Back in the 1980s a replica set of Darlington Railway Station was built for an episode of Noel's Saturday Roadshow for the BBC

An interesting story and a very nice clean shot. The light at the end of the tunnel effect leads the eye from front to back nicely.

First of all its good to have you back Mick and congrats on completing the computer sim of the track. As for the photo I always think B&W works well on railway stations. Interesting pov too. I missed a Deisel day on the ELR near to us Bury, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall. I was at Rammy on Saturday and saw a couple of Deisels but didn't know it was a special all day-er. Me and Jeff are on a day out nxt Monday. A war weekend lol.

Wonderful in b&w, and there's something about the sign (and the title) that makes me think of all sorts of connections in life. Wonderful capture! It's nice to have you back and feeling well again! :)

Nice capture Mick. It looks good in b&w. Very interesting narrative about the station and rail connections. I took the 125 in 1988 from Kings Cross to Weaverly Station. I was going to verify the speed of the train by checking the milepost markers and time them, but I got dizzy instead. So I focused on the landscape about 1/4 mile away and enjoyed the scenery. I really enjoyed that trip, but it was scary when a train in the opposite direction passed, Sig...
