Description

I haven’t been able to ID these three ducks; the one in the middle looks just like a male Mallard but has a bun on his head HMMMM, the other two are shaped like Mallards but their colors are wrong. If anyone has the answer to what these ducks are your help will be appreciated. This shot was taken late afternoon on a very cloudy day. I like the effect the low light and the clouds had on the water. Hope all had a great weekend, Thanks for your views and for your comments.

Excellent capture! I'm thinking the Mallard in the middle has a hitchhiker on his head. A smaller bird, perhaps?

I really like the water effect, too. Very nice and serene shot. I suspect they're Mallard crossbreeds. My bird book has this to say: "In the northeast, Mallard and American Black Duck often crossbreed, producing intermediates. Near the Mexican border a local form of Mallard has male and female alike, with mottled brown plumage, though make still has bright yellow bill." I know you're not is either of those areas, but if there are two crossbreeds there are probably others.
