Description

Love Me or Let Me Be Lonely, by the Friends of Distinction, was a very memorable song from my youth. Playing bass, with Friends of Distinction, Chairman of the Board, Al Downing, Diana Ross, Barry Manilow, Capitols and in particular the Motown Orchestra or, the Funk Brothers (please check out Standing in the Shadows of Motown DVD) http://www.standingintheshadowsofmotown.com/soundtrack.htm Not forgetting the Star Attraction, my friend Linda Stevens! lol The artists mentioned above, are just a small part of the discography of the fabulous bassist, who goes by the name of Bob Babbitt. I suspect he's influenced more funk, jazz and rock bass guitarists than any other bass player. That is not to say that there aren't any better players than Bob (for example, have you ever heard Vail Johnson?), but in his era, Bob was undoubtedly a great influencer. http://www.bobbabbitt.com/disc.htm http://panachereport.com/channels/old_school_update/BlkCelebsDied.htm This is my small tribute to some of the greatest soul legends, who are sadly no longer with us, but I'm sure if you look through the list there will be quite a few surprises. For instance, Van Mc Coy (the writer of, Do the Hustle with the Stylistics) died some time ago. Bob is still with us gladly, (in fact I get emails with his name added at least twice a week) it is just that so many people whose music I grew up around, have sadly left us. I'd like to thank Ute for her kindness, but the name of her gorgeous character escapes me. Thank you for stopping by and as always your comments of encouragement are always very much appreciated. Steve :o)

Fabulous! The rich tones and textures in this are beautiful. The hair is great. Such a unique costume with the women holding up the sashes on her shoulder. Love her natural face and expression.
