A nice snapshot of a byegone age, Michel. The washing boards made good music too in the 1950s! It was called 'skiffle' in the UK. It came from New Orleans in the 1920s and 1940s. Lonnie Donegan was the best singer who used 'skiffle music'. My mum used a washing board to rub the clothes clean. She used a 'wringer' or 'mangle' to squeeze the water out of them. She got her first 'spinner' machine about 1973. There are no draught horses in Glasgow. No need for the horseshoe, although many bars have it on the wall as a symbol of 'Good Luck'. There are very few big, draught horses left in the UK, and one of the thre main breeds, the 'Punch', is heading for extinction. The old cooking pots are still being used by my mother-in-law. They belonged to her grandmother! If we had no electricity we would have to go back to using them. Regards, John.

I am a huge fan of old objects Mickey and love your collection. Some of them though I would love to have you tell me what they are. When I go to Cracker Barrel to eat I always take time to study their amazing antiques that hang on the walls.

I, too, love the old things! As decorations...I sure would hate to do the laundry with one of those washboards. Then again...it would cure the problem of having to push that button, LOL!
