Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I love this piece! The images that accompany it are wonderful. Back in the life I used to have, I never really watched television much, but here were those times I'd just sit in front of it with the sound turned low while creating artwork or something like that. It's amazing the power that television has, and you've captured that...oh, and you can play foosbol!? Oooh...THAT is a serious sport here in Prague. Czechs aren't violent people, but don't come between them and their foosbol in a bar...FIGHTING will ensue...they're rough, tough, nothing to mess with, and the guys are just as bad. Also, one of the best things about TV is actually watching it with the sound off and doing the Mystery Science 3000 routine and coming up with your own dialogue...I always did that with my friend Oleg on Friday nights during reruns of Buck Rogers in the 25th centruy, which Oleg had never seen! Ah...but I do go on and since I'm going on a HORRENDOUS amount of time without sleep...I'm gonna shut up now.

Here in 'smokeless-fuel-land' the TV has taken the place of the fireside. I work better in a room with the TV on than I do in a silent place. Indeed I much prefer any activity when I'm busy. The TV's only a problem if it is a substitute - thanks for showing its finer side. Nicely written, my friend. Mike

Welcome to the club, Marilyn. My 'boob tube' hasn't been turned off in 2 years. Runs 24/7. Besides the dog and cat, it's great company and full of entertainment and information.

I very rarely watch TV, and Pauline wonders how I know so much about what she has been watching, I can tell her whats happened and whats going to happen, thanks to my interenet connection. lol. I used to come home from work and sit in my seat in the living room to watch the news whilst my meal was being prepared, I never saw the news in full, as soon as my head hit the back of the chair I was gone, fast asleep. I can never watch a film for the same reason, I fall asleep. Yet put me in front of the PC and I wake up. Another excellent Poem Marilyn and another slice of life as we know it. Bravo!!!!!

Wow, from the activities you described, you are definitely a renaissance lady! Yup, you might as well count me as one of those durn fools who sit all wrapped up in the sheer miasma of good, bad, mediocre, and who cares stuff that comes spewing without pause from the boob tube. And, I like your shot of the exploding supernova star being shown on your tv set. Probably happened millions of years ago...the supernova that is, not the picture you took.

LOL, what a cool description of the effects this box is having on us. But since TV and integrated computer will give us a more feed back kind of experience, who knows how you or i will read this poem back in 20 years time. I just love how you look around and come up with refreshing stuff on an almost daily basis. Excellence, my friend!
