Words Get In The Way
Someone said that one time
And I wasn’t sure just what he meant
Because he had an agenda
And loved to confound and confuse me
But these days
I get it I understand
All about words
And what they mean
And what they don’t mean
Some people use all kinds of words
To say nothing
Others use few words
To say so much
It’s all in the way we use them
Abuse them refuse them
That gives words their power
My words
Well who knows
Sometimes I don’t know
What they mean
They just appear here
And I don’t look at them
Too closely too carefully
I let em roll
Let em say what they will
And allow my actions
To speak far more loudly
Than my words
Because in the long run
Sometimes that’s true
That words get in the way
We just have to dodge em
If they’re the kind that might hurt
Keep them
If they’re the kind that will
Make us feel good
The rest, the inbetween words
Well they can be kept and
Stored for future use
