Description
Turning my telescope towards the Big Dipper, this little galaxy sits just north of the two stars that form the right hand side of the dipper bit.
It looks like a fuzzy cigar in the eyepeice but with long exposure photography colours appear, and it looks like a galaxy exploding (it is).
Taken with a dedicated ccd chip camera. 35 x 3 minute exposures, aligned and stacked with NEBULOSITY and post processed with PaintShop Pro X.
Tomorrow night I am going there so I may be away for a short period. I will not be able to look after you humans while I am gone so be good.
