I would call that yellow bush a forsythia. I keep track of that as a Vice President of Operations at Douglas who presided over layoffs after the McDonnell merger. Charlie Forsythe was became, "The Hatchet Man." He wasn't unfavorably pictured. Just unfavorably cast. It might seem a passing thing until one night on a beach and some news the next morning of a homicide with a hatchet.

This shrub seems to be thriving and I love the individuality of the houses so much nicer than the typical modern day conglomerations of similar buildings..
