Description
This is the first image I've posted that disallows comments. My reason is that I've seen so much negativity & mud-slinging during the democratic presidential campaign that I don't want to encourage any more (that's also why I posted it in Portraits, rather than World Events). If that's the kind of thing people want to engage in, there are hundreds of political blog sites that you can use to vent whatever anger or hostility you need to let out.
This picture was taken at a townhall meeting I attended today in Medford, Oregon. My wife & I were about 10 feet from Senator Obama & I had the privilege of shaking his hand at the end of the meeting. When I was only 10 years old, I shook John F. Kennedy's hand when he was running for president in 1960. I felt the same kind of excitement today. I urge everyone to open their minds & listen to an entire Obama speech (not just soundbites) without pre-judging him on the basis of his party, his race, his pastor's words, or any of the spin being circulated online or in the media. Don't focus on his eloquence or charisma, but on the content. If you find yourself agreeing, vote for him & support his candidacy. If you disagree with what he has to say, then don't vote for him & campaign positively for one of his opponents. But if the best you can do to support a candidate is to tear down his or her opponent, that's a sad comment on the state of politics...
