Description

This is a crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica), some people call them the lilac of the south. The blooms are similar, with one major thing missing, these really don't smell like lilacs! Which to me, half the beauty of the lilac is its smell!

A very interesting plant! (This has a small file size as well, Lee. definitely worth trying to take 'bigger' pics.)
