Description
Well this is really a re-make of an image I posted last year, but this one actually looks like my computer. The towers at the sides of the desk are CD racks. This was my first render with Brazil and took about 1 and a half hours on a Athlon 1.3, 832MB RAM, Geforce4. The keyboard took ages. Any tips or crits, please feel free to let me know :) Thanks

Brilliant... Excellent modeling, fantastic details and superb textures. Are the keys on your keyboard really that roundy? You really should clean up your monitor though (just kidding). :o)

It's beautiful, if you ask me I would say you must clean your workspace :), speakers and monitor are very dirty. A tip?... Iwould set a light in the lamp and i think it's important at this detail to set a light from the monitor, the keyboard should be lightened from the screen. Very good work! The wood texture is great!

Very nice, the only comment I have is that the light doesn't look as realistic as the rest of the image. All in all, quite convincing!

excellent! i love the sheet with the cup..but the bill (cheque, dollar note?) seems to fly a bit above the table...to get a lighting from the monitor you should use a tutorial i've seen somewhere, but dont remember where..sorry...i guess it was at www.c4d-treff.de so it was in german... your textures are great...fun to see that you're playing Max Payne, too :o)...I'm waiting for Part Two, that should come out this year...

I've noticed some comments about the lights, which i agree with... the shadows indicate that the light is close enough to the desk that you would be able to see it in the render, but the only visible light is the red one, which is turned off. The top part of the light is believable, but something undescribable happens at the bottom. If I were trying to model out the keys on the keyboard, I'd perhaps start with a spline, shaped like a rounded rectangle, with rather low interpolation, like 2 or 3. Clone it below the original one, and scale it, and reposition so the key has almost a 105 angle on the front, maybe 97 on the back. Cross section and surface that, then edit the mesh, use 4 slice modifiers on the surface of the middle of the keys to make a smaller rectangle inside them, and then add another edit mesh modifier. Then just come in and select that new smaller area you made, and move it down a bit. Check your smoothing groups and add a meshsmooth by smoothing group. Just a minor suggestion =P ... not sure how ya made the keys here, hope I didn't repeat your method... and for the arrangement... all I can say is array. Oh, and Excellent textures!

Very very nice. must feel good to make a render of your own computer setup. I would but my desk looks like crap and my tower is hidden :)

Tips: I've never been able to pick those guys off as they are parachuting down, you're better off hiding behind the door, and waiting for them...seriously, nice render, lol. "Return To Castle Wolfenstein" rocks...
