Description
At 3:00 pm Easter Sunday I accompanied my daughter Michelle to the hospital...she was in labor. This was to be her 4th child and 4th daughter...It was a very hard labor and delivery as problems kept rising...Michelle had a very bad reaction to the Epidural...As it was explained to us, when an Epidural is administered there are tiny threads inserted to the spinal area...to cause a numbness from the waist down, once the threads are inserted, they spread out and go where ever they land...Michelle's apparently landed on the nerves for her legs...which caused an agonizing reaction...she was numb but her legs wanted to move and jerk, she couldn't move them because of the numbness and they became restless, she then began to panic and suffered a severe panic attack...she then felt as if she was being smothered and could not breathe, her chest, back and arms also became restless and painful. She was gasping for air and her blood pressure and heart rate began jumping from very high to very low...I felt very helpless and I spent hours rubbing her legs and feet, it seemed to be the only thing that would help. They finally gave her some Ativan through her I.V. to calm her nerves, this put her to sleep for an hour and a half but when she awoke, the legs were again restless and she began to panic all over again. They again administered Ativan through her I.V. She fell asleep and rested for 2 1/2 hours...when she awoke it was time to deliver her baby....Just about 2 hours of hard pushing before the baby was born...She was exhausted and so tired. The baby is beautiful but we learned today that the baby's one hip may not be fully developed and she may need surgery, they will run an Ultra Sound on Monday to learn more....Anya is my 23rd grandchild and I am so proud of my beautiful daughter and granddaughter...When I get a bigger photo I will share it with you...this one was taken with a cell phone and this was as big as I could get it without distorting it.
