Description

Still playing with Image Based Lighting. This was done really quickly. I'm sure most of you know how to use IBL but for those who don't (like me a week ago) I thought I'd give you a little info on how I did this image. 1. Get your favorite character set up, clothed, and posed the way you want. 2. Delete all lights (I used the python script in Poser 6 under window -> python scripts -> utility funcs -> delete all lights). 3. Create a single light and position it somewhere above your figure (I don't think it really matters where with IBL). 4. Make sure you have actively selected the new light and then go to light properties. The default light style is "spot" you want to change it to "diffuse IBL". 5. Next click on the "Advanced Material Properties" at the bottom of the light properties window. 6. You'll be taken to the material room. Click on the IBL button. You'll be prompted to choose a texture map. Choose the map that you are going to use for the background (in this case, I chose the wonderful picture of the Porsche - I LOVE PORSCHES). After clicking OK you'll be prompted as to whether or not to Activate ambient occlusion for this light - choose YES. 7. That's about it. You can also play with the Ambient Occlusion settings by clicking the "Scene AO Options" button in the light properties but I haven't really gotten that far yet. 8. One note: I do find that a single light can be a bit dim from time to time. In this case, it was. All I did was add another light exactly as I did in the previous steps and then adjusted the brightness. I know this is probably horribly simple and that I'm missing a lot of stuff many of you already know but I have been quite happy with my results so far. I've go a LOT to learn though!! Hope this helps!!! Enjoy!!!! Tim
