Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

A well restored Dodge, amazing to think that some of these were still in war reserve in Scandanavia until 1995.

I might add that they were not trying to be precise with the authenticity down to every detail, it was more a fun day out giving a feel of what life must have been like for the British people during WWII.

nice foto used to build these as model kits. About the yanks protecting British intrests look at whats become of the Empire? Well it was a sysytem far over its sell by date anyway. Same dish is now served to the Yanks themself. Question is who will fill the gap? Time to take the UN serious me thinks?

A great shot Alan. We felt the same way about the Americans, except we called them 'Amis'. I remember standing by the roadside in what is now Czech Republic and watching seemingly endless columns of trucks going by. And the GIs throwing candy to us. I guess that love of the Americans is the reason that I now live in the United States, and have been for the past 46 years. My buddy Rob and I go to WWII re-enactments whenever we have a chance, but mostly aircraft related events. He and his girlfriend, now wife, Aimee, were trying to talk me into going to the 50th anniversary of D-Day in 1994. I passed it up in favor of going to Europe in fall of that year. Big mistake! There were a lot of veterans there, and the longer one waits to go to these events, the fewer of the veterans will be around. I went to the Invasion Beaches in May 1998, and there are many museums and cemetaries, American, British, Canadian, and German. Whenever I go to these events it brings back the fact that many people fought and gave their lives so that we can enjoy our freedom. THANKS FOR SHARING ALAN, Sig..

Like you say Alan, not every detail correct, especially with the names Gasoline Gal, Dracula and the Grim Reaper, the last two too make an appearance shortly. It was a great day out and that was the aim of the game, what with unexploded bombs and cops and robbers it was quite a funday as well as the more serious, remembering those that fell during the hostilities, so that we could live freely. This is a great shot, taken through the fence from the car park, looking down through the bramble bushes and trees. I just like everybody else can't wait to see what you upload, even though I was there almost behind(sometimes in front) of every shot, I still want to see the end result. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Sometimes its hard for me to remember when a foreign country was glad to see us arrive... anyway, I like this shot. The view from above gives it that feeling of peeking through the bush to see them arrive.
