I have been photographing women, landscapes, and points of historical interest for the past 30 years. As an all-American guy, my favorite subjects have been all-American girls. The women I have photographed are the proverbial "girl next door." They are brides, moms, co-workers, relatives and friends. Some pictures are old, some are newer, but I hope you enjoy all the pictures of these wonderful ladies. BTW: I'll even throw in a landscape or something historical.

I can see exactly where I used to live from here. Those refineries are the life blood of those people down there and without them, there would be no town, no people and great suffering. Although it would be nice if they could do their refining without the awful smell, it would be a lot easier to be sympathetic to the haze.

Nice image! The high Oil price (and the ecological and political consequences of being dependent on oil) should make companies and consumers think about alternatives and a sustainable use of natural resources. I changed my energy provider and support neither nuclear nor fossil power plants. Nor would I own a car, when I don´t need one. It´s clear that not all energy can be produced out of wind, solar and water power by now, but it could be a lot more if consumers would develop more of a responsible citizenship and force the companies to change their policies.

@Ace10: I know it's worse in Europe. Found that out when I drove there in 2002. I took this shot with a small pocket digital, so I don't think it will get any bigger without messing up the pixels. Sorry, Alec.

very cool shot from an angle we seldom get to see!

@thebasstard: Thanks for providing the alternative fuel comment. That's the way our economic system works. The consumer must demand the goods and services. I would also like to see our federal gov. swing into action by raising the "CAFE" mileage per gallon standards like they should have been doing the past 20 years. Whatever happened to "Energy independent by the year 2000"? Didn't Nixon or Ford say that?

Excellent capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent view from the top, despite the smog and adding the prop adds height/depth. True about the refineries. Here we burn all our coal reserves fast while the government is quite happy with their anti-nuclear attitude. Why concentrate a little dangerous waste inside the earth if we can cover the earth in smoke and pollution...

Great shot! We'll all get your wish... when we want it bad enough. As for Greenpeace. The dead don't need oil.

Great picture and comment Rog. I like the prop blur in the picture. As to the argument about oil, well it is cheaper now. I have no problem with drilling for more or extracting it from shale. As to the argument about global warming? We are most likely in an inter-ice age cycle. Its going back million of years. About us being solely responsible for the warming, I don't buy it. We take ourselves way to serious. Having said that, there are about 4 times as many people on Earth now than there were a 100 years ago, and they all want the latest gimmicks and three square meals each day. I remember as a kid checking out the 1950s statistics, 3 people for 1 car in the US, the next nation was either France or England, where there about 150 plus people for every car, and India about 12,000 people for every car. Now in Europe as well as in the US there are often people with more than one car. While looking for my favorite girl Renee and the post I can't find because I still can only access 7 pages of your posts, I ran across your post of Nov 01, 2010 titled 'These guys say, "Vote" '. I am voting absentee and I am looking for the ballot in the mail any day now. I have given up watching the debates because of the mud slinging digging for dirt, but my mind is made up. I am tired of politicians that talk through both sides of their mouths. Again Rog, great post and interesting discussion!
