I've been away for a week, so I haven't read all the forum comments about this, but this is really cool! So much going on here; it makes me just keep looking and looking at it. To me, this looks like some kind of time travel. The building barely seen at the stairs suggests same place, but another time? Dono, but the layer work is great. As soon as I get a chance I'll go back and read the forum threads. Maybe that will shed some light.
