everything looks really small, like its under a bed or something and the cat is a mouse. Perhaps you could zoom down some to make the viewer feel smaller?

Your bump maps are too big - thats why everything looks really small. Scale the bump map down to maybe 1/10 of its current size.

Perhaps it feels small because there is a lego piece floating in the middle?

no the gear is in the right proportion and it's bigger then the cat and not like lego.

The thing that perplexes me about the gear and the bar in the middle is not their shapes, or dimensions... but they seem to be floating... I really cannot immagine how they can stand in that position... I like and the material and bump of of the floor...

they are floating !! other way the gear could not rotate. the big gear is under the floor a little bit, were the yellow light come from.

i think there talking about the small cog wheel, leaning against the beam, in the background. do not worry yourself, my friend. what makes it look small; is the blur on the background, because it gives the feeling, that the camera has zoomed in very close. there is nothing wrong with the cat. he's cute. you have wonderful imagination. keep on keepin' on.
