Description
While Anne and I were out in our backyard gardening, she frightened this little one out of the hanging pot with a spray of water. Shortly the bird returned and would not leave. I discovered a nest there with two white eggs in it.
This is a mourning dove, probably the male of the pair, who sits on the eggs in the daytime. Later in the afternoon, near dark, his companion took his place. These doves are typically a couple devoted to each other while ensuring their young will be cared for.
An example for us to heed, I'd think.
Thanks for looking in!

We are also graced with Morning Dove tenants roosting in our rain gutter each year for as long as I can remember. This lady sure picked a great cool spot.
