Description

Well what can I say, my friend and I are pretty disorganised, even worse when we get together, so still haven't left for our road trip (still a chance it'll happen later today though!) Anyway, that means I've time for another post ;) Here is College Street in St Andrews, always very busy during the day as it's one of the main linking routes between Market Street (centre of town, lots of shops) and North Street (library, many academic departments). It tends to be rather quieter in the evenings and I just love the way the cobbles turn all shiny when it is, or has been, raining. This shot was taken just after a short downpour when it was still slighly drizzling. Just a few moments after I'd decided I'd had enough a girl in shorts and t-shirt jogged by in her own little iPod world... in fact I think you can just see her at the far end of the street on the right... I tell you, there are some damn dedicated runners/total lunatics in St Andrews depending on how you look at it!

A very engaging piece. A street such as this is all the more enticing at night. Nod nod nod....

Saw the image and immediately started hearing "Moon Over Bourbon Street" by Sting run through my head. Great evocation of mood.

I hope you took some shots with the runner in there, that would look pretty cool too i would imagine. You? not organised? never! :P Looks a bit soft (hand-held?) but otherwise nice composition and exposure :)

yeah it was hand held with the kit lens so no nice 1.8 aperture extra light going on... I was refusing to go higher than ISO 400 and this was the only one of a burst of about 5 which was vaguely sharp and well composed enough for my liking.. might go back at some point and have a crack at an hdr..
