Description
Rock Island State Park
Rock Island,Tennessee
The river below the falls is the Caney Fork.
The Falls itself comes from the Collins River which is on the other side of the hill. The falls did not exist until after Great Falls Dam was constructed. This created Great Falls Lake(Collins River) which started seeping through caverns in the hillside and worked it's way all the way to the other side. This process created Twin Falls. Note of interest the main road into the park runs on top of this hill. Hydrologic engineers say the hill and road are in no danger of collapse. They do however continue to monitor the situation.

Excellent shot. I love the way the side of the river is all falls rather than the falls being at the head of the river. Good composition.
