Description

This is the old Gardner's cottage part of the long sleeping beauty of the lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall which had survived for over 400 years as part of the Tremayne family estate. In it's heyday employed 22 full time gardeners, who I imagine would have warmed their hands on that fireplace in winter, or made a brew of tea. When World War I started in 1914, the male staff all signed up with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, with whom they served in the mud and trenches of the Western Front.. Only 6 returned of the 22 and the estate fell into disrepair and was lost in the overgrowth.. In 1990 Tim Smit who later went on to establish the Eden Garden Project had made it his passion to restore them.. Today it has become as famous, and was a pleasure to wander around.. Barn Owls and much wildlife can be seen here.. A pure joy for both garden and wildlife lovers alike.

Wonderfully captured and so many interesting details to see, from the filled jars to the saw, to the lovely flowers on the window sill, to the gloves drying near the fire, and the curious object on the wall. A lot of time and money went into this restoration, it must have been very interesting to see!

Wow! Super place Danny, I think I'll have to have another trip down Cornwall sometime soon, the last time I came down I wanted to visit the Eden Project, but I missed it, it's now on the list of 'to do'. Fantastic capture of the inside of the cottage, looks to be quite a wide angle as well. Superb narrative, I love information with images, it makes it more pleasurable to view I think. Thanks for sharing this one. Bravo!!!!! Have included the link for the Tramway Museum, click on events there's another 1940, in August, and a 1950's before then. http://www.tramway.co.uk

This is like a 3D artists dream image.. lol. Great shot with lots to see. HDR on this would rock I bet to get the light in the window less burnt out. Even so, a nice shot man. Well done.
