Welcome..wonderful composition, a bit more light on the faces from below where the flames are would help this image a lot !

What would be the best methos of lighting the faces better? I tried a few things, but it would either be too harsh or light the background too much. I wanted to keep the room dark, but had difficulty getting a good balance. Any pointers?

Like it? I love it! There is wonderful depth and focal balance in your composition. The lighting is just about perfect on my iMac at home, but the whole image is much less distinct here on my work PC - the Windows colour space seems to be a fair bit darker than the standard Mac one, or it might just be this cheap TFT display they gave me. A very low intensity, warm spotlight placed above the flame might just lift the dark-haired one's pretty face and upper torso (they deserve the attention) out of the shadows a little, without adding too much fall-out anywhere else. Maybe it would need a gradient filter to soften the edges. I think the extra focal point might improve the balance, too. This is only a beginner's guess, and I'd be very interested to see the result if you do try something. But let's be clear - this is your art work, and I love it the way it is! Hope my ramblings are of some use... now back to my boring old post and emails. Izi PS: I just spotted something - looks like a bit of nipple poke-through!
