Description

This is my first attempt at modeling an object. This was done in Veu 3, abut 5 years ago. Since Vue 3 at that time had no modeling ability, I just overlapped shapes to get what i wanted. Also it was the only software i had to work with when I first started. Many years later and i am still trying to fin time to learn the new programs that have come out and a new computer (switched from a PC to Mac) I thought I had better put something I have done up on my gallery if i am going to be a member here, so the first thing I ever did is what I chose. It was about an hour's worth of work and 20 minutes render time on the old machine. I added a fill light from the camera view to bring out more reflection on the sub, since it is a night shot. There you go. I hope to add a few more soon - as time permits. Thanks. Matthew

Very good looking work, Matthew! Not too bad for a first model attempt. And a good first post to 'Rendo'. Welcome to the community. If you don't mind, here's a suggestion for the next submarine picture you model: Subs are mostly underwater, even when their on the surface. Try making it ride a little lower, like it could go deep at any time. Nice job, and keep up the good work.

Thank you seaview123 for the comments. I will try for a less buoyant looking sub next time. :-) Like I said it was more of an experiment in using a program I had for what it (at the time) was not suppose to allow you to do. I have seen that vue has come a long way in the 6 years since i first bought it. I'm trying to locate another image I did before this one with texture experimenting. But I think a hard drive crash killed that file before it was backed up. The idea is still in my head, but things never quite turn out the same as when you first start to play around and stumble upon an idea. Matthew

Good work for your first render. The lighting works well as a night time scene. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks hajsingh, Right now I am just playing around with shapes and textures to see how light reflects off of them. I will try to get something else up soon. I did down load the free learning edition of Vue 6 xsteam, but everything will have a watermark. Still I want to learn the program right now. The files I am sure will drop the water mark if I like it well enough to buy it. Matthew
