Description

A 40MM Anti-Aircraft Gun, well thats what it said on the side, on the makers plate. Like I've mentioned before I do not know much about Militaria but this gun had two sights, one left one right and a great big barrel in the middle. The seats had been removed, but the foot pedals and hand crank where still there. The top two pics I took whilst standing where the seats should have been, looking through the sights. The public address was playing wartime tunes and sound effects, one of the effects was the sound of an aircraft, so real that people where looking up in the sky looking for it. It caught both Alan and I out the first couple of times, it was that realistic. I could well imagine a couple of gunners on this, hearing the sound of an aircraft over head, the one on the elft saying 'It's there, swing round quick, it's a Fokker Wolf, heading for that cloud bank'. The one on the right saying 'I see it, as soon as it comes out of the clouds I'll let the Fokker have it'. Sorry, I couldn't resist it, ROFLMAO. Thanks for stopping by for a look, and for any comments you care to make, I hope it brought a smile to your face as well. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are. Have a nice weekend now.

The sepia makes this so authentic and like watching the old TV series WORLD AT WAR. This may be the best yet Jeff , its a cracker! I'll take as a fave. and had to laugh at the write-up ROFLMAO.

Puts me in mind of a joke I heard years ago, the punch line of which was, "yah, but deese fokkers ver flying Messerschmitts!" Oh yes - the photos are grand! I especially like the ones that give the POV of looking through the sites. Wonderful collage!

One site for the pointer and the other for the trainer. Working together, they keep the barrel pointed in the right direction. Odd the seats are removed, but I guess it discourages folks from playing with it. Nice feel to the image.

You always give so much info about what you show us; this is great, especially the shot thru the sights. Just too bad we even need such things, though.
