Description

A shot from a series of local pictures I have been compiling because here in my hometown of Middleton, Manchester UK, like most towns there are constant changes taking place. This old textile mill is soon to be changed forever into appartments. My server was down yesterday so was unable to comment for a while, thanks for the interest on the poor little Bee!

The foreground of your magnificent photo gives the whole vista an impression of peacefulness in a place where not so many things should happen, as if the industrial revolution had decided to move elsewhere.... A great and tell-tale photo!

at first I thought it was a canal, then I understood the viewpoint. It is refreshing to see industrial landscape portrayed this way. I certainly got fed up with the over used monochrome urban decay images so beloved of camera club contest entries.

While I guess urban regeneration has it's place.. I do worry about the loss of habitat for some of the amazing wildlife one can find in such places.. Great image my friend.

A nicely composed shot Alan, I wouldn't mind having the apartment where the tower is, with access to the roof, that great big flat expanse I could get up to all sorts of mischief. Lol. Excellent capture with great reflections. Bravo!!!!!

What a great shame for this lovely building, why do we feel the compulsion to turn everything into posh flats for spoiled little rich kids?...It'd be far better off as a museum, as a testerment to the men and women that had a hard life in the Mill....Great scape of this beautiful old building

So glad you are making a record, Alan. It is a really important thing to do before it's too late. A beautiful shot, by the way!
