Description

This stately looking eagle owl, a bird that looks amazing when you are able to catch the reflections from it's beautifully clear orange eyes. And associations with royalty, have always been made with it. The French call it Le Grand Duc, in deference to its regal deportment, while the Spaniards have dubbed it bubo real in other words, the royal owl. In some circles, however, the eagle owl is regarded as more of a cad than a king. And now having established itself in the UK. There are some worries that this powerful predator may be too much for the wildlife to handle. And the countryside too small. Of all the predators of the forest, eagle owls are the most evolved for ruling their domain with not so much as an iron fist as razor sharp talons. Thanks for taking time to look and any comments you care to make.

What a magnificent profile! Wonderful image... I hope his predatory nature does not become a problem in the future as you suggest. It would be such a shame to have to deal with that later on.
