Description

Day 2 of the babies. There are 5 in all but mama lays on them so I could only get three this time:-) There is a solid black one, two gray and black seen here and two orange. She lets me touch them but she is so proud and protective that I have to love on her first. Btw, these are actually feral cats. She comes in occasionally to eat and is friendly with the tenant. He was quite surprised when she climbed up on the bed and started giving birth. I was so excited yesterday I forgot to mention that...and she and kittens are destined to Feral Friends to find them homes. If not for that she would be taking them outside soon and their fate would be sealed, death by poisoning or other problems here, such as the many pit bulls that are taught to kill them:-( I tell you this because I abhor the people who just throw these animals out because they were too irresponsible to have them fixed and feel that cats are 'disposable'. Or as in the case of this tenant, does not have them fixed and then does not take proper care of even the mama. In the nearly two years I have lived here I have watched as kitten after kitten has died (more than a dozen) because he thinks feeding them once in awhile is all they need. I buried three of the kittens myself after they were poisoned and believe me, that tore my heart out! I talked and talked to this man about this with no results so I complained to his worker who gave me the Feral Friends number to call. In this town its a misdemeanor to abuse an animal with a $500 fine. Well I am sorry but it should be a felony that carries an incarceration time. Maybe then there would be less Ferals and less 'disposable' cats. These kittens will have a chance now and mama will be fixed and a home found for her as well. And with any luck at all I won't have to cry for days at a time at the inhumane treatment. Thanks for looking and reading, and for previous comments on Baby Love.

Such darling babies and mama looks a bit irritated at your camera. I'm happy you're taking the time and effort they need to have them placed in homes, Lynn. More people should take time to do the same. Beautiful capture.
