Description

Last Sunday, my friend Randy (Vaggabondd) came over, and we spent quite a bit of time taking pictures at the beach. He took this shot, and I loved it, and couldn't keep my little postwork fingers to myself. I did a few things to it, he made some suggestions, we sent it back and forth, and this was the result. There was a red rock, or piece of brick, in the original that Randy really liked. He added that back in as a final step, and I thought it looked cool. He wanted to call this "Schindler's List" because of the red bit in the otherwise monotone image, but I'm not a movie person, and have no idea what he's on about. He PROMISES me you'll get it! So we arm wrestled for the title, and I won. :) Oh ... and as Randy always says, "I hope everyone likes it."

I like the dour lone-transient-on-the-beach effect, along with the fine monotone textures and lighting in this well composed shot, Tara! And, it would be fortuitous for you to go the movies, or at least rent them out on DVDs, so that we would have something more in common, my dear. Much of my reference text material is oriented toward films I've seen.

Congratulations to you both on a wonderful job. But I have to agree, I have no idea what the red rock is supposed to mean. I'm sure I'm no more of a movie person than you are. :-)

Beautiful capture, wonderful postwork, and yeah, the red brick recalling one of the more harrowing/touching parts of "Schindler's List" does spring to mind. I have to agree with everyone else here and say that there is a lot of emotion in this image, a sense of stillness as well. It's a beautiful piece of work and a fantastic collaboration. Superb work on all levels.

Beautiful shot you two! (Wow this image keep jumping around Render! ;) I understand about the red stone, it was pivotal in the movie and the one shot of color is black and white film. I wonder if it was pivotal to this person's life...great collab you two!

Yes, I do get it. Spielberg did the same photography trick with quite an effect. Excellent image. By the way, Spielberg was not the first to use it. ;o)

...fine and moody composition - wonderful collab - congrats to both......that the red rock does not jump out for me ( until I zoom ) attests to my touch of colour blindness , I think..( so I don't get the full Schindler effect ! )
