Description

The Old Boars Head dates back to at least 1632 and the earliest recorded landlady was a Mary Fitton in 1753. One tale tells of the famous Highwayman Dick turpin once stopped here on his way to York. Far right of the building The sessions room (pictured in the last upload complete with ghost lol), was added to the building in the 1800's. This room was where local court sessions took place and a there were a few undesirables sent to the gallows from here. All information was gained from this webpage here - it also shows an older picture of the pub. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/c.mcdonagh1/middleton%20page.html Sylvia and myself have a Sunday Carvery here almost every weekend, I live 5 minutes walk from here!
