Description

This image is for my dear friend Anne or better known as (afugatt) who really deserves it. Anne is a superb artist and puts out some of the most creative fractal images you'll see. Her images are easy to recognize as they always have a magic and a life all their own. Anne shared with me several stories from her childhood and I found myself reading them over and over. This is my attempt to bring one of them to life and hopefully bring a smile to my friends faces while doing it. Spider-Anne: When Anne was little she was a freckle faced, golden haired tomboy. She liked to play in the sand and the dirt, building roads and houses for her cars and trucks. Even more than that Anne loved to play with bugs of all kinds. Since there were mostly boys in the neighborhood she tried to ge them to accept her but instead they teased her. One day Anne's Grandfather brought her a huge brown tarantula, the biggest she'd ever seen, maybe six inches wide. Anne took time to make friends with it and after a short time she was able to hold it in her hand. She thought this was her chance to get the boys to accept her because she knew how much boys liked bugs. So Anne waited until her brothers Johnny and Jimmy along with some friends were around. Anne pulled out the spider and held it up to show the boys and to her surprise they all took off squeeling like a bunch of little girls. (Anne's words, not mine. lol) After this the boys were so much nicer to Anne, and all she had to do was threaten to get Spidey to keep them in line. Hope I was able to bring this memory back to life for you Anne, and have a great weekend everyone, Dave

Again, the look of terror on the boys' faces is priceless. I say that as a regular victim of such incidents. I have to admit, I've never liked spiders so I simpathsize with the fellas on this one. My sister used to hang this great big black wool cob web in her room right over her bed. In the centre of it was this giant purple and black spider which Chris won at the CNE one year. She illuminated the whole scene with a black light. The sight of it gave me the creeps. Probably, she put it up just to keep me out of her room when she wasn't around. Quite clever really. NOTE: CNE - Canadian National Exhibition

What a lovely image. I grew up on a very small island and when I was a child, I went always fishing with the boys from the neighbourhood, but before we did that we had to go with a little shuffel and a bucket and digging for worms!!!LOL I had not many girl friends in this time, they couldn't get use to that I always were looking for worms!!!LOL Thank you for this wonderful image and for the memories you brought back!! Hugs Ute

Hi Dave, sorry I wasn't able to get here yesterday when this posted but really am quite busy with long work hours. I had a pet Tarantula about 15 years ago. I never could get my wife to hold it. But she did pet it a few times. It was a huge Orange sucker from Mexico, bought in a pet shop. We named her Cleo. After a few years of Her eating just one cricket per week, she suddenly became ravenous and ate 10 crickets inside 24 hours. It would jump on a cricket as fast as I could drop one in her cage. Usually, She ignored them for days. The next day I looked in her cage and we had TWO Tarantula's. The old one and a new shiny bright colored one. Turns out the old one was a complete husk. Flawless except for an open door flap on her back. I didn't know Tarantula's shed their skins every few years. So we sold the new one back to the pet shop and kept the husk. She looked exactly like She always had, with the backdoor closed of course and she didn't need to be fed. Best of all.. Robin would now hold her...lol. And her presence, even in a cage and not moving, still kept the kids out of our bedroom. Works for me..lol. Anyway, great piece of art my friend and I loved the story. Bravo and best wishes from Dave :^)

You've done it again dear Dave, with a magical childhood scene full of detail and interest, the expressions on the kids faces is precious, and a great story from Anne. This is a fabulous work, I just love it, and it put me in mind of some of my childhood days and how I loved collecting bugs too, my most favourite was a huge furry caterpillar, and I made a little garden for it - I was so disappointed when it turned into a huge moth and then flew away LOL. Thanks Dave for a fabulous memory today, hugs Jane xx
