Description

This is my first lighthouse render and I just couldn't get the light beam the way I wanted it..so any constructive criticism or advice is most welcome. Thanks to Dhama who modeled the lighthouse and was nice enough to put it in the freebie section.

One way to do a beam like this is to cheat. Instead of trying to get the volumetric light to behave (slow and hard), make a column of a transparent glowing material for the beam . . . its much easier to adjust and faster to render. I like the mood of this image. . .

Once again, it is a marvel... I sincerely think that you master Bryce perfectly. Just a beautiful scene with a very special atmosphere. I love it because it is full of poetry and of personality! :) Wonderful... W.

Hi, Annie. Could you send me a screen shot of your settings in the light editor? You might just need to adjust your fall-off and brightness settings, but tweaking the atmospherics might work too. If I had your settings, I could experiment a bit. Good work on the waves! :)

Nice first attempt with the lighthouse Annie. I like the wave splashes. The only thing that I would say is that, well, as far as I know, the beam from lighthouses should come out straight and not dipped..... as I say I only think that is true, i'm not lighthouse expert LOL!. Perhaps you can create a closeup render of the lighthouse in a future scene as it hasn't been done yet. Thanks for using the object Annie. :-)

Great work, Annie. The splashes are really nice. I agree about the downward looking angle of the light. I would not appear to aiming down if the light intensity was falling off. Super job on a relatively hard thing to accomplish with a reasonable render time.
