Took this last winter ~ could not locate a better photo from yesterday. well I did, but resizing was out of the question. lost quality if I resized one from yesterday to much lol. so hope you like this fire truck I took around Jan. this year. Nice clean firetruck, Mike! ;o) Our have shutters down all those controls etc., just to stop unauthorised JoePublic messing about with them. Our Fire and Rescue service covers 2.5m folk in city, town and country, including islands, in the old Strathclyde region area , i.e. half of Scotland's population. Many are manned by retained ( i.e. local, volunteers ), but there has been a lot of cost cutting over the last five years, and as in the police, no real attempt to recruit enough to make up for the massive 30 year retirals of those who joined in the late 1970s. A couple of decomissioned fire table and ladders ( minus lights, sirens and insignia )are employed by a company of retired firefighters, to clean roof edge guttering etc. At least two old machines, are used to noisily drive teens around cities and towns for birthday bashes ( a bit like pink humvees with pre-wedding 'hen parties' ). This neighbourhood looks very clean, and very quiet. Lucky you.. ;o) Regards, John.
