Description

Until last week I'd never in my years at St Andrews been up the tower known as St Rule's. I've been wanting to go up for a bit and was waiting for a clear day when I had some time in the afternoon. It cost me £4.20 just to walk up there and stand at the top for half an hour or so taking shots but it gave me a new viewpoint on the town and this was one of the resulting shots. It's a stitch of 7 photos and to be honest I think I may go back at some point and try and get a little bit more to the left of the frame - all that's missing in my opinion is South Street, though you can make out the rest of the main landmarks, from looking down North Street toward the clock tower, round toward the castle, and up along West Sands stretching out to sea. Down there just a short way onto the beach stretching off to the right is where I took yesterday's panorama shot, down to the near right is where I took the castle shots and behind fairly nearby is the harbour, pier and East Sands. Will probably post a shot looking the other way at some point. Adam

What a stunning shot! You are blessed to live in such historic environs. That cemetery is just calling to me, armed with B&W/IR film in my trusty Minolta. Well done, Clive

It's an awesome view despite the difficulty (and price) to get up there, I think it was well worth it.

A very impressive view! I love the way the eye travels down the building clear to the back of the shot. Fabulous capture and wonderful postwork.
