Description

There must be thousands of these old trailers around that no one uses anymore... I know my family has one and like this one it just sits and collects unwanted junk. I hear the shelters constantly complain that there are not enough beds, not enough room, not enough...What I think is there is not enough creativity. These trailers could easily be 'recycled' to house a family temporarily or even just extra bed space...all the vacant lots that the cities own could be used to accommodate these with a central trailer for on site staff...just a thought... Thanks for looking and for previous comments...I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this...

Here in Belgium, more and more people have to live in caravans, living in campings. Your idea of planning something to gather unemployed caravans is really great. I don't have any organizing skills, but if someone wants to and if I can help... And if...

Unfortunately, in out current society, it is always cheaper to provide new stuff - rather that recycle the old. Labour costs for renovating are always dearer that machine costs for new... so it goes on. That's one reason why there's so many unemployed and eventually homeless. As someone once said: "That's some catch, that Catch 22".

Yes I understand what you are saying Peter...but it seems to me that the people who are homeless (many with labor skills) could be given the work to do at a much less minimal cost than the GP and sometimes maybe for free. Sorta killing two birds with one stone...And the vendors would get tax credit for donations, maybe I am wrong but seems like a win win situation to me...I would be willing to donate my time for things I can do, like cutting glass for windows, minor repairs and cleaning, painting etc...And it seems that the community would be willing to donate a bit of rime somewhere to achieve something so worthwhile...Thanks all for your comments!

Always feel sad seeing such things abandoned when they only need just some care...great idea, lynn! There are tooo many people in Russia who would willingly dwell in.

I agree, i also think that it may become more popular as the economy keeps spiraling down hill, personally i could live in one no problem all i need is a bed , bathroom, small kitchen and internet. :-)

It´s a shame that they aren´t used to provide help for those in need. Guess many are just rotting, ´cause nobody cares about who ownes them or the owner can´t be found, or the idea of trailer settlements may not be taken into account by the officials, cause they may lead to tensions with the neighbourhood. This was the case with some small trailer parks here, where the inhabitants had difficulties to find new grounds for resettlement. The difference here in Germany is that most of those people had chosen freely to live in trailer communities as an alternative form of living. An option would be just to to take over empty houses (or trailers), here in Germany the officials sometimes tolerate these actions or try to find an agreement between the owner and the (illegal) inhabitants. Often these self-governed communities develop into cultural meeting points for the alternative left and provide help and food for the homeless too.
