Description

(This letter is not real, I wrote it to go along with the picture, to give it some meaning) Dearest Mother, It's warm here in Hawaii and even in December! The base is pretty boring, just work on the planes all day, maybe fly a training mission or two during the week, but that's about it. I thought army life would be hard, but being able to fly up in the clouds, and then come back to a nice big dinner, I could get used to this! Of course the cooking isn't like yours, god I miss that chicken! Anyway, gotta run, bunch of the guys are going to go watch a boxing match between some boys on the Arizona and Nevada. I'm telling you, those Navy boys can fight! I'll write you soon, but just in case it doesn't get there in time, Merry Christmas, and tell Dad and Sissy I love them! Your son, Billy Thatcher Pearl Harbor, December 6th 1941

Good.It looks just like some of the old pictures ive seen. The tiges teeth on front wus the symble of the flying tigers who where stationed in china(I think,Forgive me if im wrong) The letter wus a good(very good)touch. It added a layer that just helps to improve the picture.

I met the name Hickam in 1965. Before that I only knew of Ford Island. I counted the stacks. Twelve if it was a later P-63 and only four if it was an earlier Hurricane. No easy marks here. These guys were prepared for what ever came.
