Description

Of course, there's a story with this!! When I was in Atlanta, my friend took me to every estate and yard sale she could find. And of course, I bought some VERY cool things, among them, this stained glass piece. It was hidden behind a big painting on a fireplace mantel; I just saw the corner of it sticking out. The price?~~~$3.00~~how could I NOT buy it??? Ok, so that's the first chapter. After a week of this, it's time to start packing and heading for home. But, wait, my suitcase is already jam packed, so now we head down to her basement to find a box. Cuz now I have to MAIL stuff home!! Among my other treasures~~~a couple of prints, some freshwater pearls (2 LONG strands, $2.00 each!!), an old hand mixer ($1.00), and the BEST find of all ~~~ a RED suede jacket ~~~ $18.00!!! I've scored BIG time here!! Chapter 3---going to the Post Office, on April 15th, did I plan this well or what????!!! The line's out the door, but there's one of those selfservice units and I head for that. It's actually very easy, I do what I have to do, and am out of the place in about 10 minutes, insurance receipt in hand and happy my box is on its way home, as I will be the next day. (Oh yeah, have I ever told you I'm a former postal employee, the un-disgruntled type??!! Took an early out and life began!!) The final chapter~~I'm home, and hmmm, start thinking about that box, then think, hmmmm again, where is that receipt, just in case......of course it's not to be found, it's gone, and I think well, *$%$&$#%^#@$#@%@&^%, where the heck is it and what if....... I didn't have to worry, everything arrived fine, in perfect shape. Oh yeah, this stained glass, those are three beautiful shells in the center and it now hangs in my living room window!!

When the sunlight shines through it I bet you have some wonderful colours on the floor's and walls. It's got to be the bargain of the year, and it looks fantastic. Trouble is a lot of folk have cottoned on to this recycle and everything over here is slowly going up and up and bargains are hard to find. Excellent capture of your new piece and a wonderful story, I especially like happy endings. Bravo!!!!!

What a great story to go along with this sun-catcher. You must come back East sometime again, and attend the world's largest flea market...it runs thru several states and lasts about 2 weeks time....yes, several states, so bring your walking shoes.

Through a looking glass, brightly... Terrific capture of this stained glass piece, whatever it's supposed to represent. Three cherries? The red light district? Hope it's nothing manufactured in Haiti. And, standing in line at the post office like that on April 15, well, you have a lot more patience than I, young lady!

I once sent 5 giant, uncleaned, dried gourds home from Phoenix. The gourds cost me $30 (what a deal) and the package place charged me $55 for packing them up and UPSing them home. But they arrived in one piece. In all my years of mailing things, I have only had 5 things lost in the mail and 3 that were broken. Pretty good average for 55 years of mailing. And its the best deal for the money. An amazing service, I'll tell you. :-) I love this glass piece. Good find, excellent shot.
