Description

Captured at a local park 4/23/08, around 8:00 AM, about 1.3 miles/2.09 kilometers from my labyrinthine lair. Shot at either 1/800th or 1/1000th of a second. Much better viewed full size. With local temperatures in the triple digit range during this unseasonal heat wave, sprinklers are an absolute necessity in keeping the grass up to snuff and in good growing order. Incidentally, falling victim to the high heat are many of the beautiful flowers in this area, especially roses, which have been scorched to the status of burned out cinders. Have a whiz bang work week!

Great shot Harry, and it reminds me of when I came to visit CA. Here in the UK we can always rely on the rain (mostly) to water our plants and lawns. In fact it rains a lot here, and was really looking forward to visiting CA, the sunshine state. So I was so surprised, if not disappointed when waking up for the first time in CA, I heard what I thought was rain. I need not have worried as it was the sprinkler system on a timer that was watering the plants around the hotel where I was staying. After that I noticed that these sprinklers where everywhere in CA, and also that many buildings didn't even have gutterings and drainpipes! hugs Jane xx

Like pillboxes and machine guns these pulsing jets sweep grass and sidewalk keeping the unwary pedestrian on his toes.

our neighbor across the street had their sprinkler system running this morning. It was producing a fine spray of snow lol it was funny. But it made me so glad to see... that finally spring is here.

A most excellent capture, my friend! I love the way the light is shining on the water droplets and streams, making the whole thing shimmer. Beautiful!
