Cast iron rivets used in the bulkheads because steel rivets were unavailable... The White Star Line was simultaneously building 3 other trophy ships at the time. Cast iron rivets were more likely to pop their caps under stress causing the seem to fail. Just reading in the paper today. BTW: Nice smoke test.

Fantastic smoke. One suggestion if you're looking to get more depth out of it is to remember that smoke gets more diffuse the farther from it's source, making it useful to increase transparency from the shapes farther away from the funnels. Second, don't forget to change occasional shapes texture brighter or darker a few points to give a fuller feeling. Hope that helps, it's looking really good.

one other thing that mboncher didnt point out, the wind. If the ship is moving forward then the smoke needs to be moving backwards relative to the ship. Otherwise very nice. Love the sky.

There would beno smoke coming from the last funnel because that was used for air-conditioning. The smoke from the other three is way too thick. And if you would like to know how I know this - I used to work in engineering on the QE2. Nice image overall though.

Did your machine choke on the smoke or did you keep your render settings to a minimum? Volumetric textures are hard on Bryce's render engine.

Nice work. I had a couple of cracks at this subject, you can see them here to check out the smoke I created: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1329603&member http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1330085&member Cheers, Steve
