Description
This guy was sleeping on Av Central (Pedestrian Mall) and Calle 2, San Jose, Costa Rica in front of a bank. It was mid-morning. San Jose is located in the Central Valley at an elevation of about 3,800-ft (1,150m). In December the rainy season is just about over in this part of the country and the temperature is near perfect. Low 80s during the day, and mid to upper 60s at night.
What struck me about this guy was the tolerance of the people on this mid-morning day. It seemed that he was part of the scenery. He was aknowledged, but there seemed to be no disgust, outrage, pitty, or any other emotion exhibited toward him. No police officer came and made him get up and I am not sure whether he was drunk or just sleeping.

Wonderful photo for a reminder. We have many homeless in our area, only they are not so peaceful... we have nearly deadly assaults on teenagers walking to and from school, drug users, and spreading garbage all over the place looking for stuff they can use. We do have soup kitchens nearby, too, but they won't use them. If this fellow was harmless, all the more reason to bring him some food. We have handed out bananas to the homeless so they can have something to eat, or even pass on to share to others they know that need it.

Splendid thought provoking photo! The sad part is that this really exists all around the world and people don't really do much about it ;(
