Description

A great big hug and thank you to Lynn (lwperkins) for the gift of GillBrooks 3D-Real-O-Rama. Great product. I want to thank all the other artists for commenting and favoring on my last image. Your support overwhelms me. And "Pops" I loved your comment. lol Hope this is better. Okay, here's the scoop. My source has returned from traveling around the Forest and has lots to tell. I've been told that many, many years ago, eons really, even before my time (and that's old) :o) A wizard of great renowned planted a small Oak tree in the Lost Meadow near two big boulders and put a spell on it that made the little Oak sapling 'glow' with a beautiful bluish green color. He told the Leaf and Grass Fairies to watch over it as it grew. I must mention something about the Leaf and Grass Fairies. They are not the cutest or prettiest faes in the Forest, actually they are quite homely. They have big heads, long arms and ears and big hands. Their feet have evolved into one big toe with a very sharp toenail. This helps them climb the trees with ease. They have grass and flowers for hair, except for the queen, she has long fibrous strands of root. They have a wonderful talent for nurturing and are fastidious. Everything is inspected and checked before it is planted and I mean everything, from the Spanish moss that hangs on the branches to the mushrooms that grow in the grass. If doesn't come up to standard, well... we don't even want to talk about that, but I am told the fairies can be ruthless. Yet, they can take a tree that's gone scraggly and make it into a majestic specimen of loveliness that any bird would be proud to call it home. As the years went by the little Oak grew into a mighty Oak Tree shading the Lost Meadow. Something else was happening during those years. The Grass fairies traveled long distances to find other trees to be planted near the Oak, just in case it got lonely it would have something to communicate with. Hey, this what I've been told. You think I make this stuff up? Well,...I've never heard the trees talking to each other, but anything is possible in the Forest. I did know a man who talked to trees. Yup, it's true. He said, "They were alive and grew, you could talk to them and they didn't answer back. :o) So, from that little Oak sapling grew what is known as the 'Heart' of the Forest. It sits exactly in the middle of all the Forest and all the other trees radiate from it in a circle. It is said The Oak has magic powers. It has been reported that if someone or thing, be it a fae, troll, dog, cat or even a bird is lost, they will find their way to the 'Heart' of the Forest and sit beneath the Oak and be regenerated with it's magic power, refreshed by the Leaf and Grass Fairies and then sent on the right path. If you go down Mapledrop Lane, right on the Peacock Path and keep going until you come to the great blue brambles and squeeze through the round opening and follow the Lost Path, you will eventually come to the Oak Tree. You are now lost. But not to worry, you have the big oak to give strength and the Fairies to make sure any bumps and bruises are taken care of and give you a warm cup of Sassy Elm and mint tea. Then lead you to the right path to home ... or so I am told. :o) IMPORTANT! The National Wildlife Federation has sent out an alert to help save the 'Teddy Bear' Black Bear's habitat. If you could paste the link and go to the site and read what it is about and if you feel you want to sign the petition please do. No money is involved and you will be helping another animal/ animals who will be losing a home. Thank you so much for your time. https://online.nwf.org/site/AdvocacyJServSessionIdr005=z3ost6s7m2.app45b&cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=495

I'm so glad you liked the forests--they seemed so right for you! And the fairies seem right being not pretty--they are magic workers and not just decorative fairies, though their wings are astonishingly beautiful! What a wonderful story, it brings an extra magic to the image!

Lovely scene and story -- pure green! It must be tough trying to keep an eye non those swift creatures and try to spell their whole name at the same time. Guess that's why "fae" works so well!

I saw Bruce Willis on Jay Leno last year with a geo pet on his head - lol... your story reminded me of it... What do trees say to the dogs when the dogs do what dogs do??? You don't know? Talk to your trees and tell them I said Hi... REALLY COOL PICTURE
