Description

:-) Pardon the pun! This is a bush at the side of my house, have no idea what it is but was very surprised to see these pretty little yellow flowers that closely resembled a rosebud. I didn't see them last year...but did see the tiny red berries which I assume comes after the flower is done. The size of the flower is the size of a petite pea and the berries the same. Anyone know what it is? In part this is a dedication to my best friend (after Alex). His brother has cancer and was given last rites last night and he is feeling pretty bad. For me these tiny 'baubles' are a reminder of all the moments in time that we store in our memories about life with a loved one. Memories are how we keep someone alive in our hearts after they have gone, each memory a precious pearl that is to be treasured. One pearl might be a smile, another a laugh, whatever the memory represents, gather the pearls together and keep them close. Somehow it lessens the pain of loss a little and keeps that loved one with us. Sending my love and huge hugs out to my friend, I never met your brother but I knew him well, from all the stories you told me I know he loved you and I saw your love for him in your eyes, heard it in your voice, felt it in your words...thank you for sharing your pearls with me, I will treasure them and I will help you remember... ******Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding, this is not about Alex's brother:-)******* Thanks for looking and for previous comments! I cropped and brightened this just a bit...

Very sorry to hear about Alex's brother. The bush looks very similar to the Hawthorn, but not quite. Here, in England, the Hawthorn has white flowers (sometimes red) and flowers around now... That's why it's other name is "The Mayflower". Today is the May 1st, so if the flower is related, you hit it bang on! Great shot... you are a natural in many ways.

Lovely deication for your friends brother. A superb photo, Lynn. I think it's a berberis, 'cos they are so prickly I've never looked that close, but I shall now!

these are delightful little flowers. they hang so much like bells. their red berries are as showy as the flowers. Gorgeous capture. I hope the dedication brings some measure of comfort to your friend - knowing that you care that much about his pain and loss.
