Description

I was turned on to a great place to explore (by Martin, aka MGD) called Brookgreen Gardens, located just south of Myrtle Beach, SC. It has animals, birds, and sculptures as well as gorgeous gardens and pools/fountains... And here is the first of my pics from that fascinating locale. This is the complete original photo (OK, I did clone out an unwanted statue in the background...) after I played with Photoshop masking, channel mixing, and blurring to create a Gothic glow effect, which was more appealing to me for this image. I then masked back in the original sculpture over the one that "glowed", allowing this beautiful lady to experience a different world from the one she sees every day. Hope she likes it... Sculpture info: "Wind on the Water" Richard McDermott Miller (1922-2004) Bronze, 1992 "Wind on the Water" is a draped variation of "Spacewalker", an earlier work comprised of a nude figure boldly stepping out into space.

This is a stand-alone tremendous sculpture but the placement of it REALLY runs it over the top! When sculptors know how and where their work will be placed they can create beyond the normal... I've seen works by Da Vinci and Michelangelo that were foreshortened and sculpted in a certain way because they were commissioned to be placed high above the viewer. Wonderful image~ =)

Excellent work, my friend! The statue is phenomenal, and your postwork choices really brought her out. Nicely done!
