Description


Playing with a Bell 206 model I made and Carrara 5.1 Pro. The Bell 206 is one of my freebies over at ShareCG. (I really should make a proper texture map for it one of these days. It does have UVs though.) The point of this example is not much more than testing/playing with some animation, motion blur, and behavior modifiers (spin applied to the rotors.) It's quite possible to make a realistic looking flying helicopter with this softwware. The animation would look much better and smoother, but to keep the .gif size down some frames had to go.

Carrara is better in rotations but is still stupid about 360. It will take the no inertia shortest route to get to a cycle. After all isn't that what finance would do? The limit on rotations should be at least 65000 degrees on every axis. And it should have a way in tweeners to specify a handedness to maintain. No snapping back from the bottom to the top. And frame rate should be limited to 360x 50 rps or 2000 fps which ever is less. We can reduce the frame rate later but let us decide waht looks right even if it takes 5 days to render.

Hey tallpindo, that's why I used Behaviors>modifiers>spin. May not be perfect in every case, but it beats trying to skirt around the half-arsed quaternary rotation scheme that Carrara 5.1 uses. (Although I hear that angular rotation is an option for 6.1+ users.) There may be some other plugins out there that go beyond the included modifier set for dynamic behaviors, but I'm pretty sure I don't have 'em.
